Hamburger-Mushroom Pizza

1 (16 once) loaf of unsliced Italian or Sourdough bread
1/2 cup bottled pizza sauce
8 thick slices of onion, separated into rings
1 cup sliced mushrooms
6 ounces cooked lean ground beef
1 tps Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded pizza cheese (a blend of part-skim mozzarella and/or cheddar or Jack cheese)

Preheat oven to 500 degrees.  Cut bread loaf in half horizontally.  Place both halves of bread, cut side up, on a large baking sheet.  Spread 1/4 cup pizza sauce over each half of bread.  Divide onion rings and sliced mushrooms evenly between bread halves.  Crumble ground beef  into 1/2 inch pieces, and divide evenly between bread halves.  Sprinkle Italian seasoning, garlic powder and crushed red pepper evenly over each pizza; top each with 3/4 cup shredded cheese.

Bake pizza halves at 500 degrees for 9 minutes or until cheese melts.  Cut each pizza half into 3 equal pieces.  Serves 6.
